About Me

Please read here: https://www.meloyogastudio.com/about-us/

I took my first Yoga lesson in 2000. Every few weeks or months following that for a few years, I would be drawn back to practicing Yoga. I found the sense of peace and bliss that each session brought enticing and fulfilling.

In 2003 I began practicing meditation, in 2005 Buddhist meditation. It was this that led me to a more committed pursuit of Yoga. At this time, I was training hard for the New York marathon and various half-marathons. I found that Yoga provided the necessary bridge between intense physical activity and control of the mind.

My Yoga practice has helped me to balance my physical imbalances from years of running, and in settling my body ready for meditation.

In 2007 I trained as a Yoga teacher at Prague school of Yoga. I taught then at Delroy's boxing gym, private lessons and later at Prague Yoga full-time. I taught in Prague for over a year, before relocating to Malta.

In May 2007 I sat my first Vipassana Buddhist meditation course. Since then I have sat further courses, explored different styles of meditation, as well as studying different styles of Yoga with a variety of teachers. Since discovering Yin Yoga, I have considered my main inspiration and teacher to be Paul Grilley, and his style of Yin/Yang Yoga can be said to be my greatest influence.

In 2009 I completed an intensive Yoga Therapy teacher training programme with the renowned Mohan family, in the Therapeutic Yoga of Krishnamacharya ('the father of modern Yoga').

In 2010 I had boy/ girl twins.

In 2015 I moved back to the UK.

In 2016 I continued Yoga therapy training- this time completing Kate Ellis's The art of teaching Yoga 1:1 - at TriYoga in London.

This Embodied-Relational Therapy (ERT) course revolutionized my approach to teaching Yoga, and helped to bring all my previous training and experience into place.

I believe Yoga is an approach to life, rather than an exercise class and that practicing Yoga can complement rather than replace whatever else we do.

It is my intention that in teaching Yoga I am able to share the life-changing benefits that I have received from my studies and practice of the ancient art/science, whilst showing that working towards a state of Yoga is achievable and desirable for us all.

I believe the benefits of Yoga's teachings are of universal application and relevance.

I continue to run endurance distance races (my longest distance so far being more than 87 miles non-stop). I credit Yoga for building my focus, endurance and keeping injuries to a minimum.
